A beautiful bright ruby colour invites you to smell and taste this attractive wine. In true vintage 2000 style, this wine is plush, soft textured, finely fleshy and accessible. The nose bursts with cinnamon, baking spices, forest floor decay and dark cherry berry fruits. There is precision, power and focus here. Lots of dark, savoury black brambly fruits joust for attention with more vibrant, tart red cherry, sweet cranberry fruit purity. There is plenty of Corton elegance and finesse, pedigree and poise. At 16 years old, this wine is probably nearing its peak of complexity and accessibility. Tannins are fine, and the acids fresh but soft and almost lactic. A very enjoyable wine that matched a dish of grouse to perfection. Bravo Faiveley! (Wine Safari Score: 94+/100 Greg Sherwood MW)
